I recently read a fantastic book called “Father Hunger” by Pastor Douglas Wilson. In it is a line that has really been giving me encouragement and I wanted to pass it along.
Towards the end of the book Wilson postulates that it may seem overwhelming to look around at your family knowing all the wood there is to chop to become the man you “aught to be” versus the man that you actually are. But the encouragement comes here when he says “It is never too late to be the first in a long line of faithful fathers.”
When I look at my son now my hope for him is that his grandchildren can look back on him and know that they are Christians and love Jesus because of the example he has set for them.
God says that the sins of the Father are visited upon the 3rd and 4th generation but how wonderful it is to know that the Love of God will be given in abundance upon 1,000 generations to those who Love God and keep His commands.
